Grosse Ile Community Glass Wall Unveiling & Fall Market The Grosse Ile Downtown Development Authority, in partnership with the Wyandotte Art & Glass Center, invites the community to the unveiling of the Community Glass Wall on Sunday, October 5, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Lyons Park. The unveiling ceremony will take place at 1:00 PM. This permanent public artwork is the culmination of a two-year effort led by the Wyandotte Art & Glass Center and created in collaboration with more than 600 Grosse Ile residents of all ages. Community members contributed fused glass tiles assembled from precut shapes, which the Wyandotte Art & Glass Center then used to construct a 30-foot-long glass wall installation. This project was designed to foster a strong sense of local identity and ownership. More than a visual landmark, the glass wall stands as a symbol of collective effort, reflecting the pride, participation, and shared values of the Grosse Ile community that brought it to life. To celebrate this milestone, the unveiling will be accompanied by a Fall Market featuring loc al artisan vendors, live music, complimentary bites, and free children’s activities, including pumpkin painting. This free, family-friendly event is the perfect way to welcome fall while honoring a historic community project that will stand for generations. Vendor Opportunities If you are interested in becoming a vendor at the Fall Market, please fill out the application at this link , or contact event coordinator Allie McAughey for more information.
